St Josephs have developed what proves to be a truly fascinating experiment with an Indigenous perspective! On this page you will see their preparation 

Experiment

Materials to be sent: OCHRE SOIL COMPOSITION INITIAL TESTING: 

  • X-RAY DIFFRACTION 
  • CRYSTALLINE ANALYSIS
  • SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY
  • THERMO GRAPHIC ANALYSIS
  • DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL ANALYSIS

We will be looking at any significant changes within the Ochre samples. The samples will also be tested on return and utilised in small paintings to conduct final analysis of suitability to paint after the trip.

Photographic evidence prior and after the experiments will also be compared along with formal analysis printouts of all testing procedures.
