What is an
ILS? An ILS is an Internet Locator Server. It sits on a server on the Internet somewhere. It is a directory listing of NetMeeting users who are logged on to that ILS. You can use it to connect with other NetMeeting users. When you log on to an ILS, the information that you have entered (Tools, Options, Information) is listed in the directory. Someone else who logs on to the ILS will see your information listed in the directory when they click the Directory tab in NetMeeting. If they want to connect with you, they can double click on your name and a request will be sent to you to Accept or Ignore their request to join you in a meeting. It will be your decision. An ILS has been set up on the Aussie SchoolHouse server for the use of the educational community. Most other ILS servers are public spaces and there may be hundreds of users logged on to it. It will be much easier for members of the educational community to use the Aussie SchoolHouse ILS for meetings than it will be to use other ILS servers throughout the world. Here is a suggested method of using the Aussie SchoolHouse server to hold a meeting. Step 1: Everyone agrees on a day and time to hold the meeting. Step 2: Everyone agrees on who will be the chairperson for the meeting. Step 3: Everyone agrees to use the Aussie SchoolHouse ILS. Step 4: Everyone logs on to the ILS at the Aussie SchoolHouse at the agreed time. Step 5: Each person double clicks on the chairpersons name to join the meeting. Its that easy.... |
