As part of the Frenchs Forest area OLGC contributes to
the life of the local community. We look for
opportunities to involve our children in community
events. We believe that a sense of contribution is an
important value for our children to develop.
Mini Vinnies
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society has been established to support those in need. As part of this group OLGC has formed Mini Vinnies. Children volunteer to assist their classmates in organizing events such as Crazy Sock Day; Winter and Christmas Appeals; Fundraising for our sister village in, Alas, in East Timor; visits to local nursing homes or sending cards to people who need contact – to name a few!
Forestville RSL
The school is regularly represented at ANZAC Day and Armistice Day services. OLGC is a regular participant in the Australia My Country competition in which children create artworks, poety and essays about their country.
Preschool Visits
OLGC students visit local preschools to read and engage with the children. The connection made helps the preschool children in their transition to school as they come to see our students as a supportive and friendly face.
Hosting Events
OLGC often hosts visitors for special events including the NSW Junior Chess League Northern Beaches tournament. We will be hosting over 300 visitors for World Youth Day in July 2008 providing hospitality and accommodation. We recently hosted an event to raise funds for the Heartkids Foundation. Our event was used to make the promotional DVS for the organization. The DVD will be shown to schools across Australia.

Our children regularly participate in broad community events such as Clean up Australia Day and Earth hour.
Grants Projects
OLGC has recently been successful in achieving grants from the Australian Commonwealth Government in a range of areas including:
• Values Education
• Investing in our School Project (shade cloth)
• Community Water Grants (water tanks and water saving devices)
• Active After School Sports (Australian Sports Commission)
• Transition to school project to help preschool children make the change to school.
