An example introduction from a participating school:
Hello everyone, Macknade State School is a small school situated in north Queensland Australia. Macknade is a sugar cane growing area between Townsville and Cairns. Many of our families have an Italian heritage and we learn Italian at school.
Our approximate position on the earth is Lat.19 South and Long. 146.5 East.
There are three teachers at our school and 45 students in years one to seven. In Queensland this is called Primary School. Our whole school has been involved in studying the weather during the past 7 weeks. On Thursday 17 September we are going to have a whole day undertaking activities related to Weather. We have invited people from our community who are involved with recording data on rainfall, wind, atmospheric pressure and temperature. There will also be lots of activities, a video, story telling and writing related to Weather.
Our Principal is hoping to share our day with other students around the world. We have seen the drawings and read the wonderful stories contributed to this site from children in Mareeba, Mooloolaba and the U.S.A. It's great to have this site to share our activities with other students.
We only recently connected to the internet and while we have a scanner, we have not used it to scan our work onto the computer. I hope we can do it! |
