'Holly's First Christmas' is a song that has just recently been released in the Trax music stores. The song has been written, arranged and recorded by a local song writer and musician, Harold Graham Jenkins, with the assistance of his talented wife Joan, his son, Jamie (french horn and guitar backing) and their daughter, Reena-Lee (artistry for the CD Cover). The inspiration to write this song was provided by his almost four month premature great niece, Holly Brooker. It is a song that has become close the hearts of many and is fast becoming a hit. Half the profits from the sales will go to the Special Care Nursery at King Edward Memorial Hospital . In the recording of "Holly's First Christmas' a small group of children were needed to complete the song. Of the ten that participate, four came from North Parmelia Primary. We all are very proud of their contribution. You can listen to the final product at the following website: http://www.kemh.wa.gov.au |

Encompassing the ideology of the Curriculum Framework and the Student Outcome Statements we launched our first integrated arts-technology project. The impulse for the project came from the class theme, 'Countries of
the World'. It was during the classes research/exploration of Russia that
the folktale, 'Baba Yaga', was first read to the year 6/7 class. Knowing
that this has been published as a musical we decided that we would try
our hand at producing the music for ourselves using the published version
as a guide.
Due to technical problems not all groups were recorded and we ran out of time. However, it provided valuable insight into the use of technology in our school, experience for those students involved and the foundations for another project next year. |

Student portfolios are an excellent tool to display the links between the Student Outcome Statements/Curriculum Framework and the teaching and learning process. In the middle of the year the junior school sought assistance with portfolios and through this, and hours of work, developed a portfolio for every child making the teaching, learning, assessment process explicit to both students and parents. Using these as a model I commenced the task of turning the students music books into portfolios which demonstrated/illustrated acheivements and progress of students. Also evidenced in their books was the reflective process they underwent before and after each performance. More recently, the use of photos had crept into
the year 2,3,4 books providing visual reference of their achievements.
And, although 160 photos have since been thus processed through the music
