Art at North Parmelia is taken by
a specialist teacher employed 0.6 for this purpose. Children have between
forty minutes to one hour with the specialist each week. The number of
classes in the school exceeds this time frame and three classes are taken
by classroom teachers who have been Art/Craft specialists during their
careers.
The NPPS course in Art and Crafts
offers opportunities for students to :-
-
Respond personally to their world,
using a variety of materials and processes.
-
Perceive and discuss expressive qualities
in the work of others.
-
Express their own identities, membership
of groups and important events in their lives.
-
Become aware of ways visual forms can
shape and express the feelings of people of all cultures.
-
Value the works of others through the
ages to the present day.
-
See their own work in a historical
context.
Art and Craft makes an essential contribution
to the students total education. It develops students ability to perceive
visual relationships in their world in their own way.
By encouraging them to respond visually
to their world, it develops students appreciation of the artworks of others.
By students stating relationships
they make between it and their visual world, Art and Craft develop students
