Early Literacy Project

The early Literacy Project (ELP) is alive and well at North Parmelia Primary School.

Funding for extra in-class support has enabled us to maximise opportunities for children and improve outcomes for P - 3 students experiencing difficulty with literacy.

Classroom and support teachers work collaboratively to design and implement specific intervention plans for students identified as experiencing difficulty with literacy. These plans are regularly evaluated and updated.

Parents are actively involved in the literacy intervention processes and attend interviews and parent workshops where the school literacy practises are explained to them.

Comprehensive data has been collected for "students at risk" which forms the Student Profile. First Steps materials are used as a basis for intervention planning and monitoring of literacy development.
