The Wiradjuri people from the Wagga Wagga area in New South Wales use the word 'wagga' which means 'crow'. So 'wagga wagga' means place of many crows.

This is very appropriate as a name for the wombat (even though he doesn't fly!) because the crow is very common in South Australia. That's why one of the football teams here is called the CROWS!
