Introduction

The children checked the IETA website to see if Wagga had added to his diary. There was a message from the teacher, Miss Sullivan, who is a Torres Strait Islander. She explained about the three languages - the old Djabugay, the Aboriginal English and the Standard Australian English.

Nicola sent us a CD of Djabugay Projects. The children all had a look and listen to the Djabugay words for parts of the body. They then looked at the Dreamtime Story "How the Kangaroo got its tail".

Children could than draw and label a face, a body or animals using Djabugay words.

A website was found that listed Kaurna words.
The children could then compare words from the two different Indigenous groups.
