Camp Aldinga
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week the children went on Camp to Aldinga. Jo spent a lot of time telling them about his indigenous heritage. They cooked damper and fish in the ashes. They built shelters called wiltjas out of sticks and branches. They painted boomerangs.

One of the significant land formations for the Kaurna people was the River Torrens. This is to have a second name: Karrawirraparri. Karra means red gum, wirra means forest and parri means river. Other land features are the beach (Gulf of St Vincent) and the hills (Mt Lofty Ranges). Not far away is the Murray River with its many billabongs, Lake Alexandrina, the Coorong (where the story/movie 'Storm Boy' was filmed).
