Year 3 students at Pembroke Junior School in Adelaide listened to the story of Ernie who travels to Arnhem Land. He learns some things about the aboriginal children there. By sending letters to his friends at home they share in this learning.
Then the children were introduced to Wagga Wombat. He is a soft toy that belongs to the Year 3s at Pembroke. Wagga is going to do what Ernie did. But he will travel to Kuranda State School in Queensland where he'll stay with some children and learn about their indigenous culture. He will send messages via the Internet and email to share his learning with the children back in Adelaide.
The children listened to the story of the wombat who went walkabout and liked to think a lot and dig a lot!
