1. Children examine common features of all cities. Design a concept map

2. Working with a partner, children research information on an Australian capital city (other than Adelaide). Oral presentation with supporting 3D model of a tourist destination and a postcard designed for their chosen city.

3.Children examine the layout and infrastructure of Adelaide through a guided tour which highlights layout, history and services and how these impact on lifestyle. Also highlight some of the problems (eg homelessness, traffic congestion, pollution). Children produce a podcast that can be played on the trip.

4. Children interview parents about cities they have visited. Construct effective interview questions, record answers and report back.

5. Children produce their own plan for a 'good' city.

6. Construct a brochure for Adelaide using 'Publisher'.

7. Compare Adelaide with Xi'an, our sister school in China. Incorporate this with Chinese lessons.

8. In Art lessons children look at uses of green space and urban planning.

9. Own inquiry of a city.
