time ago in the Dream Time there was a tribe that hadn't had any rain for
a long time. The tribe had four wells but only one had water in it. The
people used their water carefully.
In the tribe there was two greedy men. One night the two greedy men took the water carrier that they had made earlier and took all the water from the last well and ran across the desert. The
next morning the women went to get some water but there was none. The
women told the old, wise man and then he saw the tracks they had made. |
They
followed the tracks. One of the men threw a spear and it landed on the
water carrier. All the water came out of the water and made puddles. Then
suddenly all these billabongs started growing out of the puddles. All the
people were happy and moved camp to where the billabongs were.
To punish the men one was changed into the first blue tongue lizard and the other man was changed into the first emu.
