| Once
there was a man called Gidja.
Gidja had two wives and he also had two sons. The two sons were
very good fishermen but the boys were greedy. Every day the boys would go
to get some fish and when they were finished they would eat some of the
fish. Again and again every day the same thing would happen.
One day Gidja decided to pay back the two boys. Gidja was making a net for the boys. He called the boys to come to try out his new net. It had to fit around the boys. He put the fishing net around the boys but it did not fit. He sent the boys out to do more fishing. The next day when he finished the net he called the boys to see if it would fit. He wrapped it round the two boys and quickly tied it up. Then he ran to the beach and threw them in the sea. |
The
two wives were getting very worried and stared to look for the sons. It
took them two days to find them. Then they got to the beach and saw the
fishing net with the two boys in it. They ran into the sea and brought it
back and buried them. They knew that their husband killed the boys so the
wife's planned to get revenge on the husband.
So they pretended to sleep. When they heard the father snoring (ZZZZZZ!!!!!) they set the gunya (house) on FIRE and they thought they killed him. But three days latter they saw him move they were shocked. Then he moved himself into a crescent and started to glow. He jumped up to the closest branch and went to the next branch. Then he fell. He tried again and again. Then he made it to the highest branch and turned into a moon and he said "you people will all die and I will come back to life". Retold by Nareen and Tori |
