Lunch Areas

In this web page we will be telling you about the lunch areas in in our school.

Every lunch time there is a teacher on duty to make sure the children behave themselves. There are two halves of lunch. The first half is for eating and the second half is for playing.

Back Eating Area

Pleasant Heights Public School's eating area is full of long green chairs where 180 students eat almost 5 days a week . Recently teachers have divided us into class groups. Last year's Year Six class present to the school was 4 separate tables, but the tables are with chairs that are attached that only Year Six can use. this year. The Year Sixes and the rest of the school eat and play in the back playground. Each class has a lunch basket where the canteen ladies put the lunch orders and at the end of eating lunch we put our lunch boxes in the basket and at the end of lunchtime someone in each class takes the lunch basket up.

Lunch time goes for 50 minutes in total and recess goes for 15 minutes. Usually there are 4 teachers in one day 1 at recess and 3 at lunch. The lunch area is mostly covered in grass, but there is also a cubby area where it is mostly forest, dirt and logs. There is also a Multi-purpose Court. Sometimes when the library is closed the year six students will catch up on work. When it really rains the younger part of the school goes to the Kindergarten Room which is also the Italian Room and the older part of the school goes to the Green Room.

When it is too wet to go down where the seats and tables are the children go down to the cement square. The cement square is fairly large. In this square is where children in year 5 and year 6 play handball in the morning. A few years ago we used to always eat our lunch in that area - that is why there are all seats around it. In this particular lunch area there is a netball hoop and 2 basketball hoops for practising basketball.

When it is raining children in year 3, 4, 5 and 6 eat in the green room and people in kindergarten, year 1 and 2 eat in the back of Kindergarten room. The green room is used for eating and assembles.

Some Pleasant Heights teachers very kindly filled out our surveys. This is what they said:
