Claris Slide Show

A slide show can be created to present the results of a research activity. The slide show feature in ClarisWorks or AppleWorks is easy to use and the results can be very simple using text and pictures but can also include Quicktime movies.

  • Open ClarisWorks and select Drawing.
  • Change the page orientation to landscape by selecting Page Setup in the File menu.



  • The margins can be set to 0 to make use of the entire screen size. Select document from the Format menu.



  • In the boxes under Margins type the size of the border need ed. For a slide show, type 0 in the box labeled Top and press the Tab key to jump to the box labeled Bottom and type 0. Continue pressing the Tab key and typing 0 to change the Left and Right margins.



  • To create additional pages for a slide show, select Document from the Format menu (as above).
  • In the Size box, type the number of pages needed e.g. 3 pages across and 3 pages down will make 9 slides, so will 1 page across and 9 pages down.
  • To see the page breaks, (the edge of each slide) select Page View under the View (or Window) pull down menu.



  • If you want the same features (background, heading, footer etc) to appear on each slide, set up a master slide by selecting Edit Master Page from the Options menu. (A master page is optional).



  • Add the required features to the single master page that appears.
  • Select Edit Master Page from the Options menu to return to the slides, which will now have the features which you added to the Master Slide. Use the Reduce View button (little mountains) to see all of the slides




  • Increase your view back to 100% to work on each slide.
  • Use the tools to place text and graphics on each slide. Quicktime movies can be included.
  • Once all the slides are finished you can view your slide show.
  • From the View (or Window) menu select SLIDE SHOW.
  • A dialog box will appear giving you some options of how you want your slide show to run.



  • Type the letter Q to stop the slide show.
  • Save your work.
