A QuickTake camera allows you to take digital pictures and download them to your computer. Whilst the directions refer to a Quick Take camera most digital cameras work in similar ways.

Taking pictures with the camera

Put the neck strap onto your neck so that the camera won't fall and break. Make sure the battery is completely charged or use the AC adapter cord. Open the shutter on the front of the camera to turn it on. By using the back picture display you can see if the picture will be high or low quality. If the camera holds 16 pictures the camera is in high quality. Up to 32 pictures is low quality. To change the quality of the image press the button in the top right hand corner of the display. Before you take a picture, look through the lens to see if there is a green light. If it is on take a picture by pushing the button on the top of the camera.

Downloading the Pictures

Turn the camera off. Slide the side panel open and plug the supplied cable into the correct hole. Plug the other end of the cable to the modem port on your Mac. This is located behind the computer and has a little telephone icon above it. Turn the camera on by opening the lens cover. Open the application that allows you to view the pictures, by selecting Control Panels from the Apple menu then selecting QuickTake Image Access. Choose the Connect to Camera button. An icon of the camera will appear on the desktop. Drag this icon into an empty folder. The images will the be copied from the camera into the folder. To save a picture, open the picture ( double click ) and select Save As from the File menu. Save the picture in PICT format. When all the pictures have been copied to a folder, select Erase Camera from the QuickTake Image Access window.

Using the Pictures

Make sure the camera is turned off before unplugging the cord. You can use the pictures by inserting them into a Painting, Drawing or Word Processing document.
