Software: Kid Pix
Introduce each tool and option needed to
draw a picture.
- The pencil tool

- changing colours,

- changing shape (round or square),

- selecting width and texture
options.

- The fill tool.

- The undo tool.

- The eraser tool

- Open Kid Pix.
- Experiment with the pencil tool.
Change colour,
width and shape - use the up and down arrows to swap
between square and round pencil.
Explore the various patterns and the mystery button to
produce rainbows.
Experiment with the rainbows formed by holding the option
and /or the shift key.
- Use the pencil tool to draw a wide
green line across the page. Make sure the line touches
the sides of the page.
- Fill the bottom section with green
and the top with blue. Use the Undo tool, if the paint
fills the page, then use the pencil tool again to make
sure there are no gaps in the line for the paint to
escape.
- Use the pencil tool to draw each
colour in a rainbow shape (left to right - of course),
with the teacher naming each colour to use.
(Perhaps red, yellow, green, blue and purple are enough
for Kinder to handle leaving indigo etc for later
years.)
- Add stamps to complete the
scene.
- Print/ save or
- Select the eraser tool and allow
children to explore the options eg the bomb to clear the
page.
They can then try a variation using the mystery tool to
paint rainbow rainbows.
