YEAR 10 SCIENCE

Space Science Module 3

Return to Lesson Outline

Notes for teachers

This module gives students the opportunity to engage in activities which will allow them to achieve the Outcomes stated in the National Science Statement and Profiles at Levels 6 and 7 in the Earth and Beyond Strand. Students at this age can begin to tackle concepts like the electromagnetic spectrum, and Newton's laws, but these are only treated in a conceptual way. No mathematics is introduced here. Physics in year 11 gives a thorough treatment of Newton's Laws.

No text book was used by teachers during this five week module. Texts such as Science Works, Secondary Science, and Heineman Outcomes include useful material for this level. Videos mentioned here can be substituted by new programs from Quantum or other sources..see RESOURCES for SPACE SCIENCE.

For the sake of presenting this lesson sequence in a simple way, I will not include the ROOM ALLOCATIONS and class rotations that were necessary in order to maximise use of resources such as videos, slide projectors, computers, and laboratory (wet) areas.
