To provide a
quality Outside Hours Care service for the students of St John's
School. We aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where
children are well supervised and their social, physical, recreational
and emotional needs are catered for. To cater effectively for the
changing needs of school families.
GUIDELINES
& POLICIES
The Outside School Hours Care
(OSHC) service operates under the Rockhampton Diocese
guidelines along with the National Standards for OSHC.
The OSHC service
has a full range of policies that guide its operation in conjunction
with the Steering Committee. This Committee comprises of Centre
Staff, Parents and a nominated School Representative.

STAFFING
Two staff are
present at all times with the children. One staff member is a
qualified Co-ordinator and she is supported by the Assistant Co-ordinator.
Staff are qualified First Aid providers and hold current Children's
Commission accreditation.
HOURS OF
OPERATION
OSHC
will
operate Monday - Friday during school terms only - excluding Public
Holidays & Pupil-Free Days - from 3.00 pm - 6.00 pm.

FEES
All parents are
eligible for the Child Care Benefit Rebate. Application forms must
be completed which are obtained through the Family Assistance Office on
136150. These are means tested by the Family Assistance
office. Our Childcare Assistance Provider Number is 407012766B.

$10.00 Session
Fee per Child (Ongoing and Casual Care)
These fees
include a balanced afternoon tea.
Each serving ensures that the children have a healthy diet while
at OSHC.

PROCEDURES
At 3 pm the
children are dismissed from school and make their way to the OSHC area
(Preschool). The roll will be called as soon as possible after
this time. If any students are not accounted for the Principal or
designated Deputy will be contacted immediately.
Children must be
signed out when collected. If someone other than the parent
or legal guardian is collecting your child/ren prior notice must be
given to the Co-ordinator. There is no bus service available to
deliver children home.
An application
form, including medical information, must be completed for each
child. The administering of medication is covered by the school
policy, i.e. only prescribed medication may be given.

SAMPLE
PROGRAM
On arrival
children are welcomed and provided with a nutritious afternoon tea.
Homework is supervised (1/2 hour max).
A variety of
activities are offered that are appropriate to the children's age,
needs, development and abilities.
Activities include active/quiet play, indoor/outdoor play and
free play. The program combines these to include games, cooking,
art/craft, movement and music, puzzles, dramatic play, stories/reading.
