TEA & COFFEE
In the outback days of the Australian heritage, a t in can called a billy used to be boiled with hot water, had tea leaves added and swung around above the head to make tea in the bush. the tea leaves were bolied and after being stewed for a while, it was stirred with eucalyptus twig for a bush flavour. Due to the fact that there was no milk in those days, tea was drunk black or with condensed milk. Tea has remained a popular drink for Australian families and is drunk in vast quantities. It is either drunk black or has milk added for extra flavour. Coffee is a traditional beverage as well and can be drunk white that has milk added for more flavour.
MILK
Milk is drunk in vast quantities in Australia. There are milk bars around the country that sell different flavours and different kinds of milk. These are commonly found in the country areas. An average yearly consumption of milk in Australia is 102.5 litres a year.
FRUIT JUICE & SOFT DRINK
Such citrus fruits and tropical juices as mango, pineapple, guava and kiwi fruit are made into fruit juices. Soft drinks that are made from fruit juices include; Passiona and Mango and Orange. Other soft drinks that are commonly sold in Australia are 7UP and Diet Cola. The sale of soft drinks exceeds $1.8 billion per year. Tasmania is famous for it's cider.
BEER & WINE
Australians are large beer drinkers from a long time back. Australians still drink extremely huge quantities of beer today. Fosters, Swan, Castlemaine and XXXX are all made in Australia and are exported to countries all around the world. Just across from Australia are the excellent wineyards of New Zealand which produce good quality wine that is exported to Australia. The Sauvignon Blanc is the popular grape that is made into a lot of the fruity wines.
In Australia the Cassegrain wineyards produce the Chardonnay, Cabernet & Riesling which are than taken to be exported all around the world. The biggest advantage that Australia and New Zealand have in the winery business is that there is a six month advantage due to the different seasons.
