While we were creating and constructing our web site based on International cookery, there was a lot of new things we had to learn. Everything that we learnt was both practical and theory.
We learnt :
- How to operate a flat bed scanner. This also includes being able to modify the graphic to adjust size, colour and image depth. From this we also had to learn how to turn our scanned in PIC files into GIF files that would be readable on the internet. We had to learn how to convert our graphics.
- All about Claris Home page, the program that automatically writes our documents into a HTML language. In Claris Home page we had to make pages and bring in graphics. We also learnt that what you see in Home page isn't necessarily what you will see on the screen on the internet.
- What GIF builder really does. GIF Builder was another program that we leant how to use. We were able to take a series of GIF images and create an animation. From this we were able to adjust our animation's speed and repeat pattern.
- About cookery, recipes differ so greatly from country to country, as do the ingredients, methods and presentation.
- How to research on the Internet, this also gave us the opportunity to see other web sites. This, in turn gave us ideas and elements we didn't want to leave out!
- All about time management, and how it is most unwise to leave anything to the last minute.
- That our desktop publishing class last semester really did come in handy!
