Bananas in Syrup, Sala Thai Stylebananas image

Cooking time : 30 mins

500ml water						
500g sugar
6 large bananas, peeled and quartered		
2 tbsp rum
300ml single cream

Bring the water and sugar to the boil in a large saucepan, stirring constantly until all the sugar has dissolved. Boil for 5 minutes without stirring. Lower heat and add bananas. Cook for 10-15 minutes or until all the bananas are softened. Add rum and stir gently, be sure not to break up bananas. Cook over a very low heat for an extra 5 minutes.

Serve in a shallow dish, spoon over a little syrup and cream. Serve hot or cold.
